Descripción
Sumario:The article explores some demographic and academic characteristics of foreign scientists in Mexican institutions who are dedicated to the development of educational and scientific activities. Their situation was contextualized by analyzing public and cooperative policies geared at attracting foreign scientists. The policies were identified using a 2009 database of the national system of researchers (SNI for its Spanish acronym) compiled by the National Council of Science and Technology (CONACYT for its Spanish acronym). The features and training paths were established. The following was analyzed; reasons for their departure, conditions for professionalization, the pattern of migration, integration in social networks plus the results of interviews with 73 foreign researchers.
