| Sumario: | The analysis of earthquakes occurred off the coast of Chiapas, Mexico, indicates the existence of an abnormal high seismic signal (P-waves) attenuation in a certain range of distances and azimuths. This feature is observed primarily in seismic stations located east of North America. In the present paper three possible explanations of this phenomenon origin are discussed based on our own observations and other studies. |
