| Resumo: | In this article we present the image of Spain in five of the most relevant Chilean writers of Arab origin: Benedicto Chuaqui, Emilio Mohor, Mahfud Massís, Olga Lolas and Matías Rafide. This image, on many occasions sifted through the light of the imaginary, even though it is colorful and multifaceted, has a very close link with Andalusi reality in three of the five authors: history and geography —places and times— of a past that leaves its traces indelible in authors of Arab origin. From the essentially objective look towards its people or peoples that inhabit it, of the pioneer Benedicto Chuaqui, to the feeling formed from poetic reminiscences perhaps found in the bowels of the soul of Mahfud Massís, Spain and the Spaniards, the Hispanic element in short, occupies a crucial place in all of them. |
