Descripción
Sumario:The main objective of this study was to describe the dimensions of the Rojas and García-Méndez Emotional Eating scale, to evaluate the differences between men and women in emotional eating, and to determine whether there is a relationship between emotional eating and age and weight in the Mexican population. A total of 580 adults (83% women and 17% men) between 18 and 56 years of age (M=36.41, SD= 10.89) participated. The measurement was made through the Emotional Eating Scale and its relationship with the sociodemographic variables described. In relation to sex, women are the ones who mostly regulate the intensity or duration of their emotions through food; men show a greater change in mood before, during and after eating. In the dimension’s family, indifference and culture, there is no difference between sexes. In relation to weight, the variable is positively related to the dimension’s emotion, indifference, and culture, while age maintains negative relationships with the effect of food.
