Basing our analysis on documents in nahuatl, and from what we believe to be a more suitable conceptual perspective, we propose a different approach to the prehispanic nahuatl cosmovision of death, and more specifically to its cosmogony.Numerosas son las fuentes escritas que documentan el tema de la muerte en la cultura náhuatl prehispánica. Sin embargo, la intención catequística que motivó la recopilación de la información y la transcripción de los textos de tradición oral o pictográfica sesgaron el sentido que podría haber tenido la muerte en la cosmovisión mexica.
