Descripción
Sumario:The bloodletting ritual was one of the most common practices in mesoamerican cultures, because it was immersed in their social organization. Since in several cultures, like the Mexica, bloodletting was practiced both in calendar fest and in others of exceptional nature, in many cases, it was part of the population’s common life. This review tries to give a general view about this practice through the history of many societies, like the Olmec of the pre-classical period and the Mexica of the post-classical, which is the focus of this study.
