| Sumario: | The objective of this article is to recover the history of the Rotunda of Illustrious Persons, an enclosure that pays homage to Mexican personalities whose work deserved to be recognized in this way and that within funerary art represents an expression of great artistic quality when materialized in their monuments. a way to commemorate the deceased, as well as a Cultural Heritage. The study of this type of works has developed themes ranging from the history of pantheons to the description and identification of artistic elements of the tombs. The rituals and representations of death have opened lines of research that describe and analyze the way in which each culture provides a place for its dead. This text is part of a line of research dedicated to funerary art and presents the history of the Rotunda, highlighting the characters that lie in it and, based on the analysis typology of Ramírez (1980), the eight tombs are described. of the only women who have been recognized to be in this place, in the same way, they were chosen eight tombs of men of recognized trajectory were chosen to detail the elements that make these spaces works of art worthy of recovery. |
