| Resumo: | Among the many different aspects that made up Mexico's Second Empire, this work seeks to describe and analyze its administrative structure, both at the national and departmental levels. For analyzing the departmental level, the author chose the case of Sonora, focusing on conflicts between Sonoran imperial officials and the commissioner of the Eighth Territorial division, in order to stress the pragmatism and autonomy that characterized Sonoran officials all along the nineteenth century, regardless of the type of government adopted at the national level. |
