| Resumo: | This paper offers a discrete quantitative study by means of a correlation study between telematic simulation and progress in English language skills. This pursues a double aim: to test whether telematic simulation is an efficient tool in English language acquisition, and contribute to research based on language classroom practice for specific purposes. The study was carried out with an experimental population of 50 students of the telecommunications engineering major in the Universitat Politècnica de Valencia. The study estimated the correlation coefficients between the variables usefulness, pre-treatment level, skill progress, factors that affect progress, the contribution of the parts of telematic simulation and the progress in ability and attitude. Confidence levels of 95% were determined with the bootstrap method. The results obtained confirm a strong correlation between telematic simulation and progress in language skills, and between telematic simulation and progress in transversal or professional skills. |
