| Sumario: | In 2005 Universidad Autónoma del Estado de México established the Bachillerato Universitario en la Modalidad a Distancia (BUMAD) to diversify its educational offerings and expand its response to society’s demands for entry into educational programs at this level. In 2012,the program’s curriculum was updated and restructured, and currently there is no age limit for admission. Initially the program targeted young adults already active in the workforce. Nowadays, there is an increase in applications from recent middle school graduates. Contexts that conceive teaching and learning processes differently promote the shift from in-person to non-traditional education, which requires a specific student profile. |
