| Sumario: | This study describes the growth and reproductive cycle of the mother-of-pearl shell (Pteria sterna), during an annual cycle, in suspended culture conditions in the Bay of Acapulco, Guerrero. For the analysis of reproductive addiction, 20 samples of gonads were analyzed monthly, which were processed histologically. The annual reproductive vice of P. sterna was described and the variation of the sexual proportion in relation to the size of the organisms and time was analyzed. Later, the size at first maturity was analyzed and the sexual proportion was determined and the variation in the size of the oocytes was analyzed. Monthly, the growth of the organisms was recorded, as well as the environmental factors (temperature and chlorophyll a); with the generated database the monthly rate of increase was calculated, regression analyses were carried out to know if there is a relationship between the temperature of seawater and chlorophyll a with the growth of the shell and with the reproductive aspect of the species. The type of conch growth was evaluated by analyzing the relationships height-length, height-thick and height-weight, as well as regression analysis and compared the result with the von Bertalanffy model with the model proposed in this study, which is to better adjust the growth patterns of P. sterna in growing conditions. |
