Descripción
Sumario:The article outlines the alternatives enunciated by different newspapers, pamphlets and authors during the management of Valentín Gómez Farías (1833-1834) to institute religious tolerance. One is particularly relevant: delimiting the tolerance of cults to Christian confessions. Based on printed sources, the essay clarifies a supposed dichotomous struggle in this regard and warns of the plurality on this subject within the reforming ranks. Likewise, it proposes that the struggle for tolerance presents a complex itinerary beyond political categories. Lastly, it outlines some aspects of the reformist experience.
