BV RI surface photometry of mixed morphology pairs of galaxies. III. The third data set
This is the third of a series of papers devoted to the study of the photometricproperties of spiral and elliptical galaxies in interacting pairs. We report broadband (BV RI) total magnitudes, as well as surface brightness, color and geometric( = 1−b/a, PA and a4/a) profiles for a sample of...

We report broadband (BV RI) total magnitudes, as well as surface brightness, color and geometric( = 1−b/a, PA and a4/a) profiles for a sample of 10 mixed morphology (E/S0+S)pairs drawn from the Karachentsev Catalogue of Isolate Pairs of Galaxies (KPG).Most of the objects reported here have their photometric parameters derived forthe first time. Surface photometry in combination with image processing and colordiagrams are useful to test and reevaluate the morphological classification of eachgalaxy in these pairs. We find 5 true (E+S) pairs in the present sample, 4 lenticularspiral(S0+S) systems and 1 spiral-spiral (S+S) pair. We found no clear evidence ofa Holmberg effect in our sample of mixed pairs. The existence of a large number ofisolated (E+S) pairs (∼ 50% in our sample) rises interesting questions for modelsof galaxy formation.Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México2005info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/articleapplication/pdf0185-1101https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=57141214Revista Mexicana de Astronomía y Astrofísica (México) Num.2 Vol.41reponame:Redalyc-UNAMinstname:Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Méxicoinstacron:UNAMenhttp://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=571Revista Mexicana de Astronomía y Astrofísicainfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessoai:redalyc.org:571412142025-09-03T18:07:14Z |
