The Oyster of Cortez (Crassostrea corteziensis) is a species of mollusc native to the eastern tropical Pacific, which, in addition to its ecological importance, is commercially exploited in the northwestern region of Mexico. However, since oysters are sessile organisms with a high water filtration rate, they are the target of the effect of contaminants present in water, which can affect the health of these organisms and the productivity of aquaculture.El naftaleno es uno de los hidrocarburos aromáticos policíclicos (PAHs) más abundantes en los ecosistemas acuáticos y puede causar alteraciones en sistemas fisiológicos como el sistema inmune de organismos expuestos a este xenobiótico. El ostión de Cortéz (Crassostrea corteziensis) es una especie de molusco nativa del Pacifico tropical oriental, que además de su importancia ecológica, es explotado de manera comercial en la región noroccidental de México.
