Surely no president has read the results of certain surveys with more attention than Johnson, on this particular issue. It’s therefore relevant and important to investigate the type of information that such questionnaires provide. So far, reports indicate that public opinion has not been explored in sufficient detail to give political leaders a complete picture of American thought on what can be done in Vietnam and its possible cost.
