Descrição
Resumo:This paper gives an overview of the development of citizenship education in Britain and the way in which museums are supporting schools in the delivery of this new curriculum area. It ends with a study of Campaign! Make an Impact, a new British Library Programme which uses museum and archive collections to inspire children and young people into active citizenship. Children study historic campaigns, learn campaigning skills and then plan and run creative campaigns about issues that impact on their own lives. Children leave the programme feeling that they know to and are able to change things. The programme will run on a national basis from April 2009.
