Sumario:Since the holographic duality was proposed by Maldacena in 1997 it has been generalised in order to study a wide range of problems. One prominent example among the variety of extensions of the duality is the addition of flavor degrees of freedom as a result of the inclusion of supplementary D-branes on the initial system. The main goal of this thesis is the application of the correspondence in two particular situations where fields transforming in the fundamental representation of the gauge group are taken into account. In order to do so, we will study a system of intersecting D3 and D5 branes. In the first part, we will try to gain some insight into periodically driven systems, while the second part will be devoted to the construction of a holographic dual that realises anistropy, as well as a finite baryon density.
