| Sumario: | The management of irrigation is leading a multifocal and multiescalar discussion where society questions about the socio-economic and environmental limits of their promotion, emphasizing on territorial capital and its ability to adapt to changing challenges. In the Southern Europe context the juxtaposition of ancient, modernized and new projects of irrigated lands explains much of the dynamism of rural areas. The obtained results on the three cases study based on their multifunctionality and their Southern-Europe framework (Segarra-Garrigues canal -Lerida-, Neste canal -Hautes-Pyrénées- and Muzza canal -Lombardia-) promote the discussion about the future of irrigation and advocates its territorial management. |
