Sumario:During recent decades the development of urban tourism has proven extraordinarily successful, to the point where it is the form of tourism that has seen the greatest growth worldwide. The city of Barcelona has become one of the foremost destinations in Europe, thanks to the ever-increasing influx of tourists and visitors, the arrival of cruise ships, visits to cultural infrastructures, attendance at sports and business events, to name but a few of the contributing factors. The purpose of this thesis is to analyse the behaviour of tourists in Barcelona through the prism of the two most important variables in determining tourist demand: tourist expenditure, and the length of the stay. The said behaviour is analysed by means of new insights relating to tourist profiles and characteristics.In terms of methodology, for the analysis of tourist behaviour structural equation models for multi-group analysis have been used
