Fénelon's Télémaque (1699) is considered here as an example of specic argumentative functioning. On the one hand, the text can be read as a simple story. On the other hand, commentators agree as to the identication of a persuasive intention which is neatly delimited: the reformation of Louis XIV's grandson. The present contribution proposes to study the argumentative strategies used in this Bildungsroman ad usum delni. Marivaux's Télémaque travesti (1714) will serve the purpose of examining a strategy of parodic refutation in the perspective of argumentative techniques. La Nouvelle Rhétorique assigne un rôle nouveau á l'épidictique qui devient le fondement des autres genres rhétoriques. Nous voudrions montrer que cette revalorisation de l'épidictique entraîne un autre changement important : les discours éducatifs, fortement rapprochés du genre épidictique, doivent, á leur tour, être inclus dans le champ de l'argumentation. Le Télémaque de Fénelon (1699) offre un bon angle d'attaque pour examiner un fonctionnement argumentatif spécique des discours éducatifs. D'une part, le texte se laisse lire comme un simple récit. D'autre part, les commentateurs s'accordent á identier une intention persuasive nettement circonscrite : réformer le comportement du petit-fils de Louis XIV. La présente contribution se propose d'étudier les stratégies argumentatives utilisées par ce Bildungsroman ad usum delfini.
