Descripción
Sumario:The aim of this article is to analyse the literary representation of the Falangist in Ramon Saizarbitoria’s novel Lili eta biok (2015; La educación de Lili, 2016). His previous novels reflect deeply on some of the main symbols of the Basque nationalist imaginary, such as the gudari, and serve as (self-)critical memory, questioning the transmission of the nationalist legacy. La educación de Lili constitutes an interesting novel-ty in Saizarbitoria’s literary career, insofar as it focuses on the figure of the Falangist and rescues from oblivion real stories of the Falange in San Sebastian. The novel belongs thus to the stream of works that focus on the perpetrators’ side. We will therefore base our analysis on some recent works on the so-called perpetrator fiction, as well as on the proposals of other authors who claim the need to decentralize the memories in socio-political contexts such as Spain, where the discussion of some sites of memory can still be problematic.
