This study analyzed the flora of 258 domestic gardens in the urban seafront of the Alt Empordà (Catalonia, Spain). A total of 635 taxa were identified of which 68% were exotic. More than half of the taxa were either trees or shrubs (62%), with a predominance of ornamental plants (82%). Thirty cultivated taxa (5%) are considered as invaders in Spain and 14 have not been cited within the limits of the Natural Park of Aiguamolls de l’EmpordàEl desenvolupament urbà recent de baixa densitat en regions de l’arc mediterrani ha comportat un augment del nombre de jardins privats. Aquests jardins domèstics acullen sorprenents nivells de biodiversitat alhora que poden actuar com a font de dispersió d’espècies amb potencial invasor. En aquest estudi, s’analitza la flora de 258 jardins domèstics urbans de la façana litoral de l’Alt Empordà. En total es van identificar 635 tàxons, dels quals el 68% eren exòtics. Més de la meitat dels tàxons eren arbres o arbustos (62%), amb un predomini de plantes ornamentals (82%).
