An analysisofthecommutationprocessisperformed,illustratingthebasetheorybehindan LCC. TheanalysisfollowswiththestaticcharacteristiccurvesoftheLCC-HVDCtransmission system,tounderstandthesystemoperationinsteady-state.Furthermore,asmall-signalmodel of thetransmissionsystemisdeveloped,includingtheACsystemattherecti erandinverter terminals. Thesmall-signalmodelisvalidatedbycomparisonwiththenon-linearmodelofthesystem. Thee ectoftheshort-circuitratio(SCR)onthesystemperformanceisalsostudied,aswell as thesystemresponsetoreferencechanges.AllsimulationsareperformedwithinMATLABr- Simulinkenvironment.
