Sumario:[EN] For several years, research has been devoloped in which agricultural waste are used as a pozzolanic addition in mortars and concretes , reducing the use of cement and thereby achieving economic and environmental benefits . Sugarcane bagasse ash (SCBA ) is one of these agricultural residues with pozzolanic reactivity potential due to their high content of silica and alumina in a amorphous state . This thesis will develop the chemical- physical characterization and analysis of the pozzolanic reactivity of three ash samples from sugarcane bagasse from Honduras , as well as evaluating the mechanical properties of mortar specimens with addition of CBCA . It aims to offer an alternative of a material with low economic and environmental cost for use in construction in a developing country like Honduras . This alternative would also provide a solution for waste disposal that is produced in large amounts, which currently is being dumped landfills; for example , only in the three mills where the samples were taken, more than 550,000 tons of bagasse are burned annually. In general it can be concluded that , under the studied conditions, it is feasible to use the ashes of San Pedro Sula and Choluteca as pozzolanic addition in mortars. The results open the door to the use of the SCBA in cement-based prefabricates.
