Sumario:Given the disruptive impact of human activities on the Earth's climate, the Voluntary Carbon Market (VCM) has emerged as a crucial mechanism for individuals and organisations to achieve their environmental goals by offsetting their carbon footprint with carbon credits. This paper aims to understand how the greenwashing allegations have affected the VCM and to provide an accurate picture of the role of this market in achieving the global environmental objectives. The study includes a detailed examination of the market dynamics, addresses the critical issues that the VCM is facing and incorporates insights from different market participants. Overall, it provides a better understanding of the complexities associated with VCM and highlights the importance of addressing them to ensure the credibility and well-functioning of the market.
