| Sumario: | [EN] This text presents some research conducted in relation to the building of the Galician City of Culture, un Santiago de Compostela (Galicia, NW Spain). This project allowed us to apply an extensive programme of Archaeological Impact Assesment and the Correction which made it possible to identify the spatial results of past social action on the land. A full superficial and subsoil study of present terraces and fieldsystems was carried out. This work showed that present rural landscape constitutes a Cultural Landscape shaped in early medieval times(from 5th to 6th century AD). Archaeological methodologies, combined with radiocarbon, palaeoenvironmental and historical research, recorded and identified the chronology and formation processes of such landscape. This was the first time that this sort of study was developed in Galicia. |
