Several experimental variables were considered in this investigation: hydrodynamic conditions applied on the system, temperature, NaOH concentration in the aqueous feed and resin dosage. Based on the experimental results several models were used to a better understanding of the anion exchange process, thus, it was found that this exchange process was governed by the particle (resin bead) diffusion rate law, and follows the pseudo-second order kinetic model. Also, chromium(III) uptake onto the resin responded well to the Langmuir type-2 isotherm in a spontaneous process. In terms of chromium(III) uptake, the resin presented a better metal-load that multiwalled carbon nanotubes. HCl solutions presented acceptable characteristics to be used as eluents for chromium(III) loaded onto the resin.[ES] Se ha investigado la eliminación de cromo(III), en disoluciones alcalinas, mediante el uso de la resina intercambiadora de aniones Dowex 1x8. La investigación se ha llevado a cabo bajo distintas variables experimentales: condiciones hidrodinámicas aplicadas sobre el sistema, temperatura, concentración de NaOH en la disolución acuosa y dosificación de la resina. Con el fin de entender mejor este sistema de cambio iónico, los datos experimentales se han tratado usando distintos modelos, asi, el proceso de carga del metal en la resina esta regido por el modelo de difusión en la partícula de resina, y sigue el modelo cinético de pseudo-segundo orden. La carga del metal sobre la resina obedece a la isoterma de Langmuir tipo-2 de forma espontánea. En estos términos de carga, la resina Dowex 1x8 presenta mejores características que los nanotubos de carbono de pared múltiple.
