| Sumario: | ntroduction:Positive mental health is defined as a state of mental well-being, which is little understood among nursing students in Chile. Objective: To evaluate the level of positive mental health and its relationship with associated factors in nursing students at a university.Method:Quantitative, observational, correlational, and cross-sectional study. A sample of 179 nursing students from a Chilean university. An online questionnaire was applied to collect biosociodemographic and academic background, along with the Positive Mental Health Questionnaire by Lluch, from May to June 2024, after obtaining informed consent. Data analysis involved descriptive and inferential statistics using the Jamovi 2.5 software. The study was formulated according to the ethical requirements of E. Emanuel and was approved by the respective ethics committees. Results: 56.4% of the students showed a high level of positive mental health. Among the six factors of the questionnaire, self-control and autonomy had the lowest mean scores. Academic year, presence of mental health disorders, and the intensity of the relationship with individuals with mental health disorders were significantly associated with the level of positive mental health. Conclusion:Nursing students showed a high level of positive mental health. It is necessary to generate strategies to strengthen positive mental health as a protective factor, in order to train competent and humanized nursing professionals |
