Descripción
Sumario:This article aims to analyse the barriers to and stimuli for the implementation of strategies and adaptation measures to climate risks affecting a Mediterranean tourist destination such as the Costa Brava. To do so, seven towns were selected to represent its geographic, socio-economic, and environmental diversity. The five climate risks analysed were floods, rising sea-levels, temperature increases and heat waves, droughts, and forest fires. A mixed methodology was used, consisting of surveys and focus group sessions and/or interviews with technicians from the respective towns being studied. The results highlight the inherent complexity of adaptation processes to the impact of climate change at a local scale, confirming that the factors influencing adaptive capacity can simultaneously act as stimuli or barriers depending on each particular context and climate risk
