El objetivo de esta tesis ha sido comparar el efecto de un apósito antioxidante sobre la cicatrización respecto al uso del tratamiento habitual de cura en ambiente húmedo en heridas crónicas. Se ha desarrollado un estudio prospectivo, aleatorizado y multicéntrico con dos grupos paralelos, con un total de 54 pacientes con heridas crónicas de diversa etiología. Los datos descriptivos muestran una evolución favorable hacia la cicatrización en ambos grupos, mostrando que tanto el apósito antioxidante como el tratamiento de cura en ambiente húmedo son eficaces para el manejo local de la herida. Los datos comparativos no muestran diferencias significativas, ni documentan una superioridad ni inferioridad significativa. Estos resultados aportan evidencia científica sobre una nueva alternativa en el manejo de las heridas crónicas, pero sería necesario consolidar estos resultados con la realización de un ensayo clínico con un tamaño de muestro mayor para poder confirmar los hallazgos encontrados.Chronic wound healing is affected by oxidative stress. It has been proposed that the use of an antioxidant dressing could promote the healing process. The aim of this project was to compare the effect of an antioxidant dressing on wound healing with the use of standard moist wound care in chronic wounds. A prospective, randomized, multicentre study was conducted with two parallel groups, with 54 patients with chronic wounds of different etiologies. Descriptive data showed a favorable evolution toward healing in both groups, showing that both antioxidant dressing and moist wound healing treatment are effective for local wound management. Overall, the comparative data do not show significant differences, nor do they document significant superiority or inferiority. These results provide scientific evidence of a new alternative for managing chronic wounds, but it would be necessary to consolidate these results by conducting a clinical trial with a larger sample size to confirm the findings.Tesis Univ.
