That situation was the crossing of three unyielding figures - João Archer, Nunes de Almeida and Rogério Ramos – with the Portuguese Government’s need to respond to an industrial agenda that required very particular and demanding spaces. This context was also parallel with the expansion and growing dominance of concrete as a construction system, which was very distant from the ones used in the local architecture. Although there is an extensive list of experiences with regard to concrete, which are essential for the current situation of architecture, this text is focused on Picote Chapel and the Buildings for Water Treatment in Miranda and Bemposta. The text also deals with the relationship between the modernist character of these buildings, the old town and nature.[ES] En el año 1953, el cruce de João Archer, Nunes de Almeida y Rogério Ramos, tres personalidades de carácter muy fuerte, con la circunstancia de que el gobierno portugués debe dar respuesta a un programa industrial con necesidades de espacios muy particulares y exigentes, junto con el avance de la técnica y el dominio cada vez mayor del hormigón como sistema constructivo con características muy diferentes de aquellas que ofrecían los empleados hasta entonces en la arquitectura local, provoca el desarrollo de un pensamiento que va a permitir la construcción de tres núcleos urbanos vinculados a la producción de electricidad Picote, Miranda y Bemposta.
