| Sumario: | [EN] The article deals with the activity of the Spanish architects and followers of Le Corbusier Josep Lluis Sert and Antonio Bonet Castellana. They belonged to the GATCPAC, where developed the tenets of the International style in Barcelona during the 1930´s. They displayed their utopianism as they criticised deeply current cities and social and economic system. They trusted in possibilities coming from the new materials and technological innovations, and the implementation of the rationality. They dreamt about creating a healthy, balanced and creative new man; they considered that Art played a main role in achieving those goals and it had to be bound to Architecture. They both were exiled to the USA and Argentina after the Spanish Civil War. There, they transformed partially their points of view, adapting to the enviroment and later took the new proposals to the CIAM after the IIWW, showing and example of transatlantic circulation of ideas. |
