| Sumario: | [EN]Southern Europe is a secondary center of tomato diversification, especially in the Mediterranean basin, with a wide variety of types adapted to the environment. Recent studies have revealed extensive genetic and phenotypic variability, mainly related to fruit shape and color. In the Valencia region, the 'Valenciana' tomato is one of the most well-known and valued varieties, with three main typologies based on morphological characteristics. As visual classification is prone to errors, it is necessary to develop robust and reliable methods for classifying 'Valenciana' tomato accessions such as those based on genetic and phenotypic traits. In this work, by MFA integrating phenotypic and genotypic data followed by HCPC analysis, we have produced molecular and phenotypic signatures for each type of typology, allowing for a reliable and objective classification of the different typologies. |
