The Calzadilla Ophiolite and the Mérida Ophiolite have protoliths formed at c. 602 Ma and c. 594 Ma, respectively. The composition of their mafic rocks allows them to be interpreted as suprasubduction zone ophiolites, generated during the initial opening of a fore-arc basin (Calzadilla) and the later generation of a back-arc basin (Mérida), both basins subsequently closed during the cycle of convergence and collision that took place between c. 590-540 Ma. The available data on these ophiolites suggest that extensive oceanic domains, not considered before, could have participated in the Cadomian dynamics. Cadomia could for some time constitute a far traveled microcontinental domain separated from Gondwana.[ES] El basamento cadomiense del SW del Macizo Ibérico contiene varias unidades máficas – ultramáficas de naturaleza ofiolítica. La Ofiolita de Calzadilla y la Ofiolita de Mérida tienen protolitos formados a c. 602 Ma y 594 Ma, respectivamente. La composición de sus rocas máficas permiten interpretarlas como ofiolitas de zona de supra-subducción, generadas durante la apertura inicial de una cuenca de fore-arc (Calzadilla) y otra posterior de back-arc (Mérida), eliminadas posteriormente durante un ciclo de convergencia y colisión que tuvo lugar entre c. 590-540 Ma. Los datos existentes sobre estas ofiolitas sugieren que en la dinámica cadomiense pudieron participar dominios oceánicos extensos, no considerados hasta ahora.
