[EN]: The angular geometry of the bent-core (BC) type molecules has contributed to the field of liquid crystal (LC) materials with singular properties such as providing polar order or the possibility of inducing supramolecular chirality from achiral molecules. Although BC liquid crystals are of great interest as thermotropic materials, it has recently been demonstrated that bent-core type molecules, with a suitable molecular design, are capable of forming supramolecular systems in different solvents, such as aggregates and gels. In the last decade it has emerged a new technique based in the microfluidics manipulation, but it has not been sufficiently explored with low molecular-weight molecules. Therefore, this work proposes to use the microfluidic technology to control the self-assembly leading to supramolecular aggregates that were previously prepared with the classical coprecipitation method followed by turbidimetry. In addition, it is proposed to use the microfluidic technology to improve the reproducibility of the aggregation process and the control of the morphology. Three types of molecules have been selected: ionic dendrimers (PPI1-B5-4-8 and PPI1- B5-4-14), dendritic oxyethylenic amphiphiles (TEG-D1B5-4-8, TEG-D1B5-10-14) and non-dendritic oxyethylenic amphiphiles (TEG-B5-0-14 and isoTEG-B6-0-14), which were previously studied in the research group forming aggregates of different morphologies and dimensions. As part of this project three of them have been again synthesized and characterized: PPI1-B5-4-14, TEG-D1B5-10-14 and TEG-B5-0-14. After comparing both the classical and the microfluidic methods, a greater control has been observed in the morphology and dimensions of the aggregates formed by microfluidics, besides a great save of time of processing. On the other hand, physical gels have been prepared from these compounds in solvents with different polarities and studying their morphology by SEM, proving that compound TEG-B5-0-14 has the best qualities to form gels both in different solvents and at different concentrations, generating three-dimensional fibrillar networks.Peer reviewedCSIC-UZA - Instituto de Ciencia de Materiales de Aragón (ICMA)Ros, M.
