Description
Summary:Introduction and objectives: The Working Group on Valve Repair of the Spanish Society of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery presents the fifth annual report on reconstructive valve surgery of the mitral, aortic and tricuspid valves performed in Spain during 2015. Material and methods: The data was gathered using an online form, in a retrospective, voluntary, anonymous and non-audited way. Different parameters regarding etiology, type of surgery, mortality and risk scores were collected, both in the whole group and in the elective group. Results: Data was collected from 31 centers with 9112 interventions. Mitral repair surgery accounts for 29,2% of all mitral valve operated, with a major different both in risk profile and in etiology. The ratio between repair and replacement for aortic valve has a rising trend with an important variability between surgical groups. Tricuspid surgery is mainly conservative with a wide use of prosthetic rings, and a stable number of replacements. Conclusions: Mitral valve repair is a established option in our country, being highly dependent on etiology. There is a trend towards an increase in repair/replacement ratio and tricuspid valve repair is stable.
