description [EN]Biobanks, dedicated to the preservation, indexing, and storage of human biological material for technoscientific research in health, represent an emerging infrastructure in Brazil. Their center-periphery shift is associated with the molecularization of the biological and health sciences, as well as with the intensification of their relationships with the globalized market. However, a deep analysis of this infrastructure requires researchers interested in dialogue with Science and Technology Studies (STS) to understand its local manifestations. Thus, the aim of this article is to characterize the biobanks certified in Brazil by the CEP-CONEP system up to December 2021 and still active as of August 2022, while also offering preliminary reflections on the emergence and proliferation of this infrastructure in Brazil during the early decades of the 21st century. To this end, we present a brief contextualization of the biobank research infrastructure, supported by a literature review on the topic; and an inventory of the biobanks certified in Brazil, based on data made available by the CEP-CONEP system and complemented by research on the websites of the biobanks and their affiliated institutions. Finally, we outline the main characteristics of the biobank infrastructure in Brazil.

Su desplazamiento centro-periferia está asociado a la molecularización de las ciencias biológicas y de las ciencias de la salud, así como a la intensificación de las relaciones entre estas y el mercado globalizado. Sin embargo, el análisis profundo de esta infraestructura exige al investigador interesado en el diálogo con los Estudios Sociales de la Ciencia y la Tecnología (CTS) conocer sus manifestaciones locales. Así, el objetivo del artículo es caracterizar los biobancos certificados en Brasil por el sistema CEP-CONEP hasta diciembre de 2021, y vigentes hasta agosto de 2022, tejiendo, además, consideraciones preliminares sobre la emergencia y proliferación de esta infraestructura en Brasil en las primeras décadas del siglo XXI. Para ello, se presenta una breve contextualización de la infraestructura de investigación biobanco, apoyada en la revisión de la literatura sobre el tema; una presentación del inventario de los biobancos certificados en Brasil, a partir de los datos disponibles en el sistema CEP-CONEP, complementados con la investigación en los sitios web de los biobancos y de las instituciones a las que están vinculados. Finalmente, se traza un panorama con las principales características de la infraestructura biobanco en Brasil.[PT]Os biobancos, dedicados à preservação, indexação e ao armazenamento de material biológico humano para pesquisas tecnocientíficas em saúde, são uma infraestrutura emergente no Brasil. Seu deslocamento centro-periferia está associado à molecularização das ciências biológicas e das ciências da saúde, bem como à intensificação das relações entre elas e o mercado globalizado. Porém, a análise densa desta infraestrutura exige ao pesquisador interessado no diálogo com Estudos Sociais da Ciência e Tecnologia (ESCT) conhecer suas manifestações locais. Assim, o objetivo do artigo é caracterizar os biobancos certificados no Brasil pelo sistema CEP-CONEP até dezembro de 2021, e vigentes até agosto de 2022, tecendo, adicionalmente, considerações preliminares sobre a emergência e a proliferação desta infraestrutura no Brasil nas primeiras décadas do século XXI.
