| Sumario: | Left-handed wave propagation in a CPW, coupled to split ring resonators and periodically loaded with signal-to-ground wires acting as inductors, was demonstrated. Since negative permeability and permittivity coexist only in the vicinity of the resonant frequency of the rings, signal propagation in the structure is limited to a narrow frequency band. This was demonstrated in a fabricated prototype device, where the measured transmission coefficient has been indicative of negligible insertion losses in the allowed band. |
