| Sumario: | A biostratigraphic study of Campo section (Ilerdian parastratotype) has been carried out by means of planktonic foraminifera and calcareous nannoplankton. The most standard and recent biozonations for Lower Eocene (Ilerdian and Ypresian) have been recognized and, consequently, a more precise chronostratigraphic setting of the Ilerdian stage is pointed out. The Ilerdian comprises the following planktonic foraminiferal zones: M. velascoensis, M. edgari, and M. subbotinae, which correspond to the calcareous nannoplankton zones: D. multiradiatus (upper part), T. contortus and D. binodosus (Iower part) |
