Descripción
Sumario:The concept of «scandal» played a crucial role in the administration of justice and the maintenance of social order. Scandal, understood as more than just public disorder, included any act that destabilized social harmony and went against collective morality or religious beliefs. Sexual crimes, for example, were prosecuted not only for the individual harm caused but also for their social impact, turning them into a matter of public interest. This approach reflects how scandal was not merely a matter of personal conduct, but a public order concern, affecting the social perception of authority and social stability.
