Sumario:This dissertation uses three stories by Jack London on boxing ("The Game", "A Piece of Steak" and "The Mexican") exploring, from the perspective of Cultural Studies, the world of boxing as a complex hermeneutical vehicle for the transdisciplinar analysis of humanistic and social role of conflict. I argue that in its regulated exposure of carnal and symbolic violences it's possible to find a particular and effective synthesis of embodiments and discourses as dynamical cultural practices. Closely linked with the process of civilization, boxing had a prominent role in twentieth-century Literature, arts and mass spectacles, leaving a strong imprint on the collective imagination which I review critically
