Description
Summary:There is a type of Latin verbs that can be built with the majority of the morpho-syntactic categories of the complementation; we are speaking about the yerba meaning fear. When we compare their functioning in the complementation with the one of verbs from other semantic fields, we find that they have a «negation» seme in common with the verbs meaning prevent, and that they are different in the fact that the first class of verbs are no-performative and the second performative. Through the analysis of the complementizers and of the semantic content of the main verbs, we arrive at the following conclusion: there exits an interrelation between the main verbs and the complement clauses, which can be explained without the necessity of resorting to the parataxis.
