This chapter describes the rationale, structure and evaluation of these DSS. Both systems present a common structure that contains an interface, a database and a bioeconomic model. The interface has been kept as simple as possible, and it requires simple agronomic, biological and economic data. The databases store information on the available herbicides for the control of A. sterilis and L. rigidum. The bioeconomic model contains a detailed life cycle structure including integrated management strategies, weed-crop competition and economic submodels. Both DSS followed an evaluation process consisting of the verification of the functions contained in the system, its ergonomics and the evaluation in field conditions.
