Sumario:[EN] This paper analyses, within the theoretical framework of linguistic ecology and the standardization of minority languages, the work Faristol, a teaching method for Catalan spelling and grammar aimed at children and young people. First appearing in the magazine Cavall Fort (1965), it gave rise to two gradually restructured and enlarged manuals: Faristol. Llenguatge i gramàtica per a nois i noies (1966) and Faristol. Llenguatge i gramàtica (1969). Directed by cultural promoter Josep Tremoleda, it was written by Lluís López del Castillo and illustrated by Pilarín Bayés. It became the first language instruction manual for this social segment after the end of the 1936-1939 Spanish Civil War. Published during the late Franco regime (with Catalan removed from the education system), Faristol was very successful in the context of progressive reintroduction of the teaching of Catalan. At the time of its publication, it represented a refreshingly new approach to language teaching.
