| Sumario: | The contradictions of European society will find in late 20th century art one of the elements bringing about more changes to the cultural scenario. Thus, beyond the tension between Tradition and Modernity, plastic arts will bring to light new problems and, particularly, an attempt for unexpected solutions that question classic a esthetic theories. All of which is included into a new confrontation between the Western world and the other civilizations, which implies a reflection on the limitations of cultural creation itself, as marked by the concepts of primitivism and exoticism. Paul Gauguin is probably the most paradigmatic case of this current. |
