Sumario:Through the analysis of two families: Escobar and Lorenzana, we have studied the behaviour of the local nobility of León in late years of Ancient Regime. On one hand we have appreciated the same or similar rules as before, previous centuries, relating to marriage, enormous attraction by clergy for non-first born son, strategies for the inheritance... On the other hand we have observed original trends, they were more interested in bourgeois activities like cattle raising, wine growing and putting it on the market, the relevant mother's role in the family and its strategies and their involvement in the local and domestic policy.
