Descripción
Sumario:The aim of this article is to present some of the basic roots of the idea of nationalism in the work of Isaiah Berlin. I will try not only just to display the different thoughts of I. Berlin on nationalism, but also to relate these thoughts with the elements that precisely make him an atypical thinker within the liberal tradition. So, the article is arranged as follows: after a brief introduction to Berlin’s nationalism, I will establish the actual connections of his theory between, on the one hand, nationalism and the search for status, on the other, nationalism and Romanticism, and finally, nationalism and positive liberty.
