Descrição
Resumo:[EN] This works is a general and introductory overview on the consideration and treatment of sexual and gender diversity in the Middle‐East and North‐Africa region (MENA) and among Muslim communities. Thus, firstly, arabicity and the Islamic fact are presented, then two chapters deal with diverse eroticism on Classical Ages, transcending the traditional approach dedicated to literary homoeroticism. Subsequently, we discuss how legislative changes during the Ottoman Empire through the Modern Regime led later the inclusion of homosexuality on the legislations of MENA region countries. Then, we offer an approach to the contemporary situation in which feminism and Islamic thought interacts. Finally, we deal with LGTBIQ+ identities on Arab World, the social reality of these people as well as the emergence of LGTBIQ+ people rights movements and the cultural representations about them on these societies.
