| Sumario: | Catalonia has approved Law 8/2020, of 30 July, on the protection and management of the coast. A pioneering law in an autonomous community that, for the first time, promotes coastal management tools that cover the maritime-terrestrial public domain and the adjoining areas. This article analyzes the framework of the new regulation and examines the potential of its new tools that allow planning at different scales, increase municipal powers, promote new mechanisms for public participation and, above all, establish greater standards of coastal protection.
