| Sumario: | Even before Philip III created the Immaculate Conception Royal Committee in 1616, a fervent promotion and defense of the dogma of Virgin Mary’s Immaculate Conception were carried out, resulting in a series of poems of circumstance devoted to this doctrine that proliferated through the Baroque period. A sample of that intense literary activity is La Aurora de Cristo, a narrative epic poem written that same year by Luis de Belmonte Bermúdez, who was from Seville. This paper focuses on this work as a reflection of a moment of maximum apogee of the Marianist spirit lived in the Andalusian city. |
